Spatial Translation
journey of the five senses
Individually, we are to produce a spatial translations scheme themed ‘Journey of the five senses’ in the form of either linear, or concentric. With an analysis of one precedent study relating to spatial typologies and poetics in architecture, identify and explain different spatial types in architecture, and how they inform spatial use and experience. Subsequently, create tectonic expressions of different spatial typologies which impact on the uses and experiential conditions of space, and study and express the sectional drawing in relation to use and poetics of space.
precedent study @ ARTlab by Patkau Architects
project 1a

I have chosen a concentric spatial typology to focus on the precedent study of Patkau's design, the ARTlab in Winnipeg, Canada.

A concentric design reflects a very communal and interactive space which engages space with people.
spatial translation
project 1b
Learning from the design strategies of Project 1a, we are to design a spatial translation scheme themed ‘Journey of the five senses’ in response to the covid-19 pandemic. The design of space shall be in a concentric form. A limited guideline of 10 x 10 x 10 m are required in incorperating to the design.
